At the end of the XIX in a small provincial city, which was situated at the Volkhov river was everything: railway station, steamship landing, paved streets with pavements and kerosene street lamps, water supply system and even telegraphic communication. There were 30 000 local citizens and several lodging military companies. All of them liked to walk in the park near the Kremlin, listen to the music of a brass band, visit restaurants, to which in 1897 distillery of Ivan Korsakov started supplying its production. By the 2007 Novgorod the Great has radically changed. Except for its famous distillery, that still produces high-quality alcohol and celebrates this year its 110 anniversary.
